    Active IQ (formally PremierIQ) was set up to enable other organisations (colleges, universities, prisons, private training organisations) to access Premier qualifications. It is a Qualifications and Curriculum Authority (QCA)-approved awarding body, operating in the sport, recreation and leisure sector. The first Active IQ qualifications, for fitness instructors, were accredited on May 1 2004 and now appear on the Framework for Recognising Achievement (formally the NQF).
  • Register of Exercise Professionals (REPs)

    The Register of Exercise Professionals has been set up to help safeguard the health and interests of people who are using the services of exercise and fitness instructors, teachers and trainers. The Register uses a process of self-regulation that recognises industry-based qualifications, practical competency, and requires fitness professionals to work within a Code of Ethical Practice.

    SkillsActive is the Sector Skills Council for Active Leisure and Learning. SkillsActive consults employers on the skills they need for their workforce and will produce a Sector Skills Agreement between employers, the Government, funding partners and training providers to ensure those needs are met.
