Course content
The Certificate in Body Massage is designed for home study through Premier’s Distance Learning programme.
Course modules include:
Stage 1 - Anatomy and Physiology for Therapists
Stage 2 - Body Massage
- History, Therapeutic Benefits and Effects of Body Massage
- Contra-indications
- Health and Safety
- Professionalism and Ethics
- Client Care and Preparations for Body Massage
- Swedish Massage Techniques
- Case Studies
- Business Aspects and Marketing
Home study is supported by a DVD tutorial in Swedish Massage, with a 1-day practical workshop to be held at one of Premier’s training venues.
Assessment:
- Continuous coursework assessment
- One 90 minute theory exam
- One 60 minute practical exam

One 90 minute VTCT exam
Exams are held at Premier’s London or Trowbridge venues.
Entry requirements:
The Certificate in Body Massage can be taken without prior qualifications - but students must be at least 18 with reading, writing and numeracy skills.
Course duration:
As with any distance learning course, students work at their own pace, however the course must be completed within 2 years. With around 10-12 hours of home study per week, the course typically lasts around 14 months.
