Entry Requirements
The Certificate in Advanced Personal Training is a superior course for established health & fitness professionals – so students will need a Certificate in Gym Instruction or suitable Level 2 qualification. Students must be at least 16 years old with a reasonable level of fitness as well as reading, writing and numeracy skills.
Note: If you do not already have a HSE approved Emergency First Aid certificate you will be required to attain one within 6 months of gaining your qualification.
Length and Format of Course
- Full-time: 7 weeks face to face study, supported by homework and online learning support
- Part-time (blended learning): online learning and face to face to face study over approximately 6 to 8 months dependent upon the venue, supported by homework
- Part-time: (London only): a number of weekends and evenings over approximately 7-8 months.
The Certificate in Personal Training (not the Certificate in Advanced Personal Training) is available as a home study course. Through DVD-ROM tutorials and practical workshops, you can gain your certificate in around 12 weeks. To read more about this click here or select Page 2 below.
Assessment
Candidates are assessed via theory exams, worksheets and case studies, plus a direct observation when carrying out a personal training session.
Next Steps
This qualification presents career opportunities in personal training on a salaried or self-employed basis. Further qualifications such as Premier’s Level 4 qualification; Exercise for the Management for Low Back Pain, the Diploma in Sports Massage Therapy and the Premier Master’s in Personal Training.
