Understanding Diabetes
This is a foundation course for nutritional therapists, personal trainers and anyone working with diabetics, to enable them to understand and appreciate the disease and its complications. The aim of the course is to equip therapists and trainers with a thorough knowledge of current medical treatment of diabetes to facilitate informed interaction with the patient’s medical team and to help them understand the needs of the patient. The course ranges from the physiological mechanisms of diabetes within the body to the global epidemiology of the disease. It is illustrated with case studies. A basic understanding of physiology is assumed.
