What job is well paid yet allows you to travel the world, sit on a beach, do water sports to your heart’s content, live a VIP lifestyle and work for only one hour a day?
In 2006 Catherine Kerr completed the part-time Diploma in Personal Training and Sports Massage Therapy at Dartford. Soon after graduating she set up her personal training business and trained clients in their own homes.
Although her career was progressing, Catherine felt she hadn’t realised the full potential of the Diploma until she applied for a position to work as a personal trainer for a Saudi Princess.
"I was flown 1st class to LA for the interview and booked into a 5 star hotel in Beverly Hills. I didn’t hesitate: the remuneration package was absolutely tremendous not to mention the perks! My first day was spent at Disneyland, California. Although there were at least thirty people in the Princess’s entourage we didn’t have to queue for anything. I even had my own personal chauffeur and I often went to eat at LA’s finest restaurants or to shop along Rodeo Drive."
Everyday was a new training experience for Catherine; biking along Santa Monica beach, kick boxing, aqua aerobics or dancing along to her favourite salsa or hip-hop rhythms. "My client’s main aim was toning and weight loss, so I devised a comprehensive workout programme that included CV, weights and a stringent dietary plan, which had to be incorporated into a hectic traveling lifestyle as well as frequently dining out."
Catherine has travelled to some amazing places and had some incredible experiences. "I have flown on the Princess’s private plane and cruised around the Mediterranean on a yacht. I have stayed at the Ritz in New York, been chauffeured in stretched limousine hummers around London, appeared on the guest list to some of the best clubs in the capital, met up with haute couture designers in Paris for an entire new wardrobe and, to top it all, I’ve even met Brad Pitt!"
Catherine is always looking to develop her skills and is currently studying for Premier Training’s Masters in Personal Training as well as learning to dive and kite surf on the Red Sea.
"Sometimes I feel as if this is all a dream, but it is reality, my reality. The Diploma in Personal Training and Sports Massage Therapy has opened up a sea of possibilities for me and this is just the beginning!"
