Jaime Short Photo

Jaime Short always had a keen interest in sport and fitness and spent most of her youth playing football, netball or horse riding. When Jaime was 13 years old, she won two big national titles as a horse rider and consequently decided to make this her primary focus.

From this moment on, Jaime wanted to be involved in some sport or fitness related profession. Jaime says, "If I am not working, you will find me down at the stables with my horses, but my new passion is sky diving!"

She graduated from the University of the West of England in 2008 with a BSc (Hons) in human and equine sports science after leaving school with 4 A levels.

Almost immediately after graduating, Jaime began her qualification with Premier Training. She decided to pursue a career in the health and fitness industry because she was interested in sport specific training (or lack of it) for horse riders.

The degree Jaime completed gave her a wide understanding of the fitness industry, particularly the science behind it. Jaime explains: "I enjoyed the degree course, but it had little practical application in terms of a job or career, so that’s when I decided to take a step towards personal training."

"I spent a long time looking at training providers, probably a year or so before I finally enrolled. Premier Training appeared the most professional and helpful, and also had a course which suited me much better than other providers."

Jaime completed the Diploma in Personal Training and Sports Massage Therapy in 2008 and decided to join Premier People while on the course.

Jaime purchased the Platinum package including Premier People, REPs, PT on the Net and FitPro membership. Jaime says: "I found PT on the Net and FitPro magazine so useful, and Premier sorted the REPs membership so I didn’t need to send all my certificates in."

"I found all the client fitness forms available on Premier People really useful, and it meant I had access to all the resources I needed when I was just starting out. I also found an insurance company through Premier People who covered me for PT and massage all in one policy. I found discounts offered by certain companies which enabled me to get all the kit I needed."

As a member of Premier People, Jaime received regular job vacancies via email and saw a job vacancy as an intern working for Premier Training.

Jaime applied straight away and a few weeks later, she started the job. Within a year of her internship at Premier Training, Jaime got her dream job as a full time fitness lecturer at the Leeds venue. She teaches across the Diploma in Personal Training as well as several continuing professional development courses.

Jaime still trains and practices as a sports massage therapist in her spare time. Jaime says: "Thanks to the Premier People job vacancy service, I landed the job of my dreams!"
