Rugby Legend Marc Stcherbina gets ‘Personal’ in Cardiff

Icon to gain Advanced Personal Training qualification

Former Cardiff Blues and Newport Gwent Dragons star, Marc Stcherbina, is looking to his future by taking the Diploma in Advanced Personal Training with Premier Training International in Cardiff.

Marc StcherbinaAfter a 12 year professional Rugby career Marc was recently forced to retire due to a serious neck injury. Having been dedicated to health and fitness for so long, it seemed a logical move to train as a Personal Trainer and continue an active lifestyle. Marc said: "Being forced to retire is difficult but I knew I wanted to pursue a career in health and fitness so a Personal Training qualification was the ideal way to start, especially as I have a sports science background in Australia".

"To provide me with this, I didn’t need to look much further than a Premier Training course, as it came highly recommended, particularly from my girlfriend who thoroughly enjoyed completing her own Diploma in Advanced Personal Training earlier this year".

Marc, who lives in Cardiff, added: "At the moment I’m not limiting myself to any specific branch of health and fitness, although I am interested in developing a business in the corporate health sector. Then again, I could also see myself move back into Rugby in a coaching role so I will no doubt have some more big decisions to come!"

Being an ex-Rugby star is not necessary a pre-requisite to gaining a Premier qualification. The Diploma in Advanced Personal Training goes through all the elements required to be a successful Personal Trainer, from fitness instruction, business skills, nutritional advice and advanced training techniques. Eliminating the ‘one size fits all’ training programmes it enables Personal Trainers to develop conditioning, training and rehab programmes around the individual – something Marc has focused on throughout his career.

Cathy Bates, Careers Advisor at Premier Training International, Cardiff said, "We are delighted that an athlete of Marc’s stature is training with Premier. We attract a lot of Rugby players and Sports Professionals from varying backgrounds and we recognise that the Diploma in Advanced Personal Training will provide Marc with the new skills to compliment his experience. We wish him all the best for his future career".
