Helen Tanner
Careers Advisor
Helen's background is in Human Resources; she gained the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development at Thames Valley University. Soon after qualifying Helen worked in the Human Resources department at the BBC in London for 10 years before switching to a career as a Careers Advisor at London University. She joined Premier in 2007 and her extensive experience means she is ideally placed to advise students on forging a successful career in the health and fitness industry.

Garrath Pledger
Lecturer
Garrath has a background in Professional golf, having studied with the Professional Golfers Association at PGA headquarters going on to work as an assistant professional before switching to a full time playing career. He then decided to switch to the fitness industry and took the Premier Diploma in 2005/06 after which he started his Personal training career, training sports teams and individual athletes in a range of sports. He also gained experience of club management within a private club environment. He joined Premier in 2008 as a Fitness Lecturer and now looks after the Certificate in Gym Instruction and Advanced PT course. His experience in sport and fitness at a professional level gives him a great understanding and level of expertise.

Katie Higginbotham
Lecturer
Katie has a background in sports therapy. She graduated with a degree in Sports Studies at Worcester University in 1998 and before long was running her own successful sports therapy clinic in Bournemouth. Katie joined Premier in 2006 as a Sports Therapist Trainer and now teaches the Certificate in Sports Massage Therapy. She has recently taken up adventure racing and her passion for health and fitness are an inspiration to her students.

Ryan James
Fitness and Nutrition Lecturer
Ryan has a background in elite level Ironman triathlon and national level sprint track cycling. He studied for a BSc (Hons) in Sports Science at Portsmouth University, and Sports Performance and Coach Education at Bath University. He went on to work as a Personal Trainer and Fitness Manager before switching to a career in Personal Training and University Lecturing. In 2006 he joined Premier as a Fitness and Nutrition Lecturer. Ryan enjoys writing, promoting and teaching his own workshops / courses in nutrition and functional training and also enjoys surfing, kite surfing, and wake boarding when the water’s flat. His wealth of experience in the health and fitness industry and his desire to share this experience makes him a valued member of the diverse teaching team at Bournemouth.
